It was imperative that I determine the veracity of the FAQ.
6/13/2024 | L. McDonald posts the FAQ to the Martha Laird private Facebook page. At this time, the Texas District VI Director was a member of the Martha Laird Chapter. The District VI Director asked Mrs. McDonald how she obtained the FAQ but did not respond to a direct request to verify the veracity of the document (see attached screenshot).
6/17/2024 | L. McDonald emails Texas State Regent Marcy Carter-Lovick with the FAQ attached, asking her to confirm if the FAQ was produced by the DAR. Although Mrs. McDonald and Mrs. Lovick had been previously corresponding, Mrs. Lovick never responded to this inquiry – the email is linked here with redactions of PII.
7/1/2024 | L. McDonald emails Texas State Regent Susan Johnston with the FAQ attached, asking her to confirm if the FAQ was produced by the DAR. Specifically… “I also want to verify whether information I’ve seen is produced by DAR or not so that I can let others know that they may be potentially disseminating information that is not true…” Mrs. Johnston replied “The President General is the official spokesperson for the Society. If you want clarification as to whether the document that you received was prepared by her, then I suggest you contact her office.” The email is linked here with redactions of PII.
When the two Texas State Regents and the District VI Director declined to confirm (but did not deny) that the document was produced by the DAR, I felt confident that it was. It wasn’t until October of 2024 that I was able to absolutely confirm that this damning document did indeed come from the President General.
10/9/2024 | L. McDonald receives forwarded email that was sent by a DAR State Society on October 9, 2023 with a link to the FAQ – the link calls the document “President General Q&A” and is also referenced in the body of the email… “Please read the President General October Message and the Questions and Answers pertaining to the bylaw amendment that occurred during Continental Congress last June.”
