State, National, Honorary Officers and prominent members that quietly support the effort to Restore and preserve the DAR as a historic, iconic, genealogical society for women I implore you to speak openly about what has happened within the ranks of the DAR.
I know you are out there and as a member with nothing to lose personally, but everything to lose when it comes to the history, values and American Spirit embodied by the Daughters of the American Revolution I ask you to act and take a public stand, yes even at the expense of ridicule – after all, this is what your patriot ancestor did, but with risk to their very lives.
I recently had the opportunity to hear Honorary President General and fellow Texan, Lynn Forney Young speak at a luncheon hosted by the Daniel McMahon chapter in Athens, Texas.
Ms. Young spoke about her role in the National America 250! Committee and the thrill of standing in our historic building in the District of Columbia while taking her oath as a committee member. She implored us, as Daughters of the American Revolution to get involved with the celebration of our 250th birthday and while I can’t quote her verbatim, she echoed the sentiment that we have said here, in this effort… “Who better than the Daughters of the American Revolution to take a stand…”
Yes, Ms. Young, I agree that as Daughters of the American Revolution, but more so as Christians, we are ideally suited and positioned to take a stand against those that seek to destroy what the founders of our Society and the members before us have built over the last 135 years.
I had to fight back tears listening to her speech and correlating it to this ideological battle we’re fighting. My fear is that all the wonderful, uplifting sentiments in Ms. Young’s speech about the DAR will be gone in a short time if we don’t succeed in our effort to restore the DAR.
Ms. Young and others in leadership, if you see this, please consider speaking out in the way that only you as leaders are equipped to do.
I humbly ask for your help. We have an opportunity to preserve the DAR for generations to come – if we lose it, it will be on our/your watch.
Quoting Hannah Arnett as she implored her husband and other patriots to reconsider seeking clemency offered by the British…
“Can you tell me if, after all, God does not let the right perish, if America should win in the conflict, after you have thrown yourself on British clemency, where will you be then?”

And finally,
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” – Mark 8:36
I invite you to publicly join our efforts – history will record your efforts in restoring and preserving the DAR.
Even if you choose not to, we continue on “…with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence…”
